Pranayam –Movie Review

Blessy succeed in proving the depth of relationship through his new movie Pranayam starred by Mohanlal, Anupam Kher and Jayaprada in the lead roles. The movie revolves around the love bound between the characters of Mathews (Mathews), Grace (Jayaprada) and Achutha Menon (Anupam Kher).All the three characters had made a first-rate performance, this might be one amoung the best performance of lal in his career. Anup Menon plays the character of lal’s son Suresh has done a marvelous job to the end of the movie. The music by M Jayachandran and Cinematography by Satheesh are the other factors in the movie. The song Pattil ee Pattil was another highlight song of the movie. The other cast in the movie Aryan,Dhanya Mary, Apoorva Bose,Niveditha has done their job well.At the above the movie is good.

A film with Natural humour , love and satisfies your hunger and drizzles your taste buds. Kalidasan (Lal) is an archaeologist and Maya (Swetha Menon) is a dubbing artist .Incidentally Maya (Swetha Menon )is calling Kalidasan (Lal)for ordering dosa unfortunately the call is diverted to Kalidasan .Gradually the fall in love without seeing each other. Manu (Asif Ali) is the nephew of Kalidasan and Meenakshi (Mydili) is the roommate of Maya both on their own accord pretending to be Kalidasan and Maya respectively. Archana Kavi is playing a guest role which is also a emphasize in the movie.

The film is directed by Aashiq Abu (Director of the film Daddy Cool) was successful in providing the entire audience an excellent Food retreat. Another high light of the film is the songs by BijiBal and the Rock in Album by Avial Band, which is played at the end of the Movie. The character of Babu raj seems to be the best role palyed by him ever in the screen. The song “Annakallan” , “Kannamullal” and “Chembavu” are one amoung the best songs of 2011.

Teja Bhai is the second venture of Dipu Karunakaran after the movie ‘Crazy Gopalan’. The youth icon Prithviraj didn’t disappoint the fans and the Malyalam audience. The movie tells the story about Teja , an underworld king maker in Malaysia, who left his parents at the age of 3.The content of the movie is humor, action and love. The introduction scene itself is an action sequence in a helipad at Malaysia which has been done fine. Teja’s love with Vedika (Akhila’s Character) makes Teja to ends all his activities in Malaysia .Prithvi is disgusing as Roshan Varma and searching for his family by giving a newspaper advertisement.

The role of Suraj Venjaramood ‘s Rajaguru Vasyavachasu is helping Teja in his search of his family in Kerala.The humour line of the movie was lined by Jagathy Sreekumar,Salim Kumar, Jagadish,Kochu preman, Manju pillai, Bindu Paniker pretending as Roshans relatives. The narration of Mahabarat to the Tejas ancestral story by Salim Kumar was an excellently depicted in the humour side of the movie. And the love development through the TV clippings of some of the Malayalam films was also portrayed well. The rivalry between character of Talaivasal Vijay (Akhilas father’s role) and Suman makes Teja back into the action .Another highlight of the movie is the music by Deepak Dev. Prithvi and Deepak combinations has always been delivering good music in the past too,all the three songs in the movie are good. The song Pranayanilavu is a melody song which is already popularised through the media. The super hit song of 80’s Oru Madurakinavin Lehari’s remix was choreographed well.

Moreover the movie was a family entertainer, by giving importance for the humor .The entrance of the character of Nedumudi Venu before the first half didn’t link to the movie in the afterwards. At the above Suraj Venjramoodu rolled out the humor excellently throughout the movie. Asokan , Shakeela, Nandu, Mafia Sasi, Bheeman Raghu,Manka Mahesh,Kollam Thulasi etc are the other cast in the movie. Being the first movie released during the season the reviews of the other movies will decide the fate of the movie since 6 other movies are to be released. Still Dipu Karunakaran was successful in providing an family entertainer from Prithviraj.

Best Actor - A truckload of freshness

Storyline: Mohan (Mammotty) is a Hindi teacher who is living with his wife and a son in a remote village. Mohan got a deep passion for acting. It leads him to go to many directors and requesting a role in their movies. His unbridled ambition takes him to one of his old friend who is working on the script for a new movie in Kochi. He meets a new director and his crew in Kochi. They tell him he is not apt for the role because the movie is dealing a violent subject. They advice him to observe goons and gangsters in the streets of Kochi for acting effectively. So Mohan totally changes his appearance and joins a 4 member gang (Lal, Nedumudi Venu, Salim Kumar and Vinayakan) for observe and study them. The second half of the movie is all about Mohan’s life and survival with the gang.

Freshness

The debutant Martin Prakkat did very well, first with a fresh subject and again with peppy narration. Ajayan Vincent, the cinematographer, did an excellent job by showing us the different shades of Kochi. Mammootty did act in more than 300 movies for a span of more than 30 years. But still we can feel his deep passion in his acting. He did very well as Mohan and also as Bombay. The casting of Nedumudi Venu, Lal and Salim Kumar are really appreciable. Their performance is the real bonus and added more mileage for the movie, especially Salim Kumar’s comedy. The heroine Sruthi Ramakrishnan has nothing much to do in the movie but thanks to the director for finding a beautiful fresh face. The script and dialogues written by Martin and Bipin Chandran are really good. Bijibal’s music is peppy especially the song ‘swapnam oru chaakku”.

Verdict

The movie is a clean family entertainer. A total fun-filled movie with all the ingredients audience demanded. It is going to be one of the best movies of 2010.

Cocktail –the torchbearer of difference

The debutant Arun Kumar’s ‘Cocktail’ is a fantastic movie. The movie is inspired from the theme of a Hollywood flick ‘Butterfly on a Wheel’, even if the movie has freshness in the approach backed by really good scripting. The plausible efforts from the total crew behind and on screen made ‘Cocktail’ a must watch movie. Arun Kumar, the Editor of numerous hit Bollywood flicks, used his experience very well to make this movie exciting and enchanting.

Storyline

Ravi Abraham (Anup) is a promising architect who lives in a metro city with his wife Parvathy (Samvrutha) and daughter Ammu. One day, Ravi and Parvathy meets a stranger (Jayasurya), who asks a lift in their car, starts to threaten Ravi and Parvathy with their daughter’s life. The stranger starts to make rules and persuade Ravi and Parvathy to obey him. Ravi and Parvathy hardly had any clue about the stranger and his actions. The stranger takes the couple for a bumpy ride of realities.

The director and script writer had a big challenge that the movie revolves around three characters, but they have overcame it with a nice and fresh treatment. Among the actors, Anup Menon and Jayasurya did very well. Samvrutha’s character too has a soul. She did an excellent job as Parvathy.

The movie deals with the stinking truth behind the fragrant metro life. The director did maximum possible justice for such a complex subject. The movie has many scenes to show beyond the obvious of urban culture.

The music department has been handled by Alphonse and another debutant Ratheesh Vega. The songs are really good and it has already created an impact in chart-toppers. The song ‘Neeyam thanalinu’ is one of the biggest hit of this year. The background score too is good. Prasanth Madhav created beautiful backdrops for the total richness of the movie which has been enchantingly filmed by Pradeep Nair.

Enthiran - An Indian movie for the whole world

There is only one movie in the history of Indian cinema that created over-whelming hype from the day of its story’s inception. That is none other than ‘Enthiran’. The Rajnikant factor added more mileage to the project. But the real hero is the one and only director Shankar. Our audience expected so much and Shankar with the support of a mammoth and swanky crew delivered more than what we all expected. ‘Excellent’ is what I have to say about Enthiran in one word.

Storyline

Vaseegaran (Rajnikant) is a robotics engineer, who is working on a human-robot for the last 10 years and he creates it. The Robot has been named as Chitti (Rajnikant). Chitti is a genius that he has the brilliance of 100 men and he understands everything. Chitti is a real super-hero. But Vasi never programs Chitti with human feelings. Bohra (Danny Denzogpa) is the teacher and chief of Vasi, who is also researching on Robotics and trying to develop a new Robo genesis to sell it for destructive uses. Bohra asks Vasi to handover Chitti to him. But Vasi reveals that he would handover Chitti only to the Army. Vasi’s girlfriend Sana(Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) likes Chitti. Chitti helps Sana whenever she needs help. Vasi tries to program Chitti with more emotions and feelings. Chitti starts to absorb the human emotions and Chitti starts to love Sana. Vasi destroys Chitti but Bohra reinstates Chitti and adds a red-chip to it for adding destructive powers to Chitti.

The movie is a visual experience that only watching the movie gives you the complete satisfaction. A R Rahman did some excellent re-recording work for enhancing the mood that has been created by the technicians. The graphic designing, special effects, action sequences, cinematography and production designing are world-class. ‘Enthiran’ is an Indian movie for the world audience. The climax action sequences are worth watching 2-3 times.

The Robo Rajni is the real star of the movie. Rajnikant has got multi-level performance opportunity as Robo. He is doing comedy, Villainous role and also as the hero. The scientist Rajnikant is so simple and totally different from his earlier movies. He is so human, he has his limitations and he only believes in his intelligence. Special congrats to Shankar for designing Vasi’s character such simple. Aishwarya Rai is looking young and beautiful. The movie will rewrite every possible box-office history inside and outside India.

Elsamma Enna Aankutty - A Bundle of Fresh Breathe

‘Elsamma Enna Aankutty’ by Lal Jose is an above average fun-filled movie. Apart from the director, the biggest plus point of the film is Ann Augustine, daughter of actor Augustine. The director should be congratulated much for that. The movie has a simple triangular love story mould but slowly develops into a ‘one woman show.’ The eye soothing visuals and sensible editing are added advantage for Elsamma.

Story line

Elsamma, [Ann] a self-tailored, stubborn girl is the eldest daughter of KPAC Lalita. She is a news agent cum stringer cum news paper distributor of Balanpilla City. Elsamma has three younger sisters. Paapan [Nedumudi Venu] is her neigbour who has some deep relationship with Elsamma and her family. Unni, [Kunchacko Boban] the milk-farmer of the village is very close to Elsamma. Unni has an unrevealed love interest upon Elsamma. Aby [Indrajith] and Sherin, the grand-children of Paapan come to settle in the village. Aby likes Elsamma’s character and he falls in love with her. Elsamma involves in almost all issues that affect the village and the villagers. She bravely faces challenges from Panchayat Member [Jagathy] and the Abkari Karikalam [Vijayaraghavan].

The movie deals with a hill-range village. The director very much created the particular mood of that village, just like he did in ‘Meesha Madhavan.’ Casting of the movie is another important successful factor. Ann Augustine is a real find. Kunchacko Boban too has atleast something to do in this film. The ‘chemistry’ between Ann and Kunchacko is jelling. Jagathy and Vijaya Raghavan did very well too. Like all Lal Jose movies, the songs are catchy and peppy. Rajamani gave tunes to the lyrics of Rafiq Ahmed. The songs have been picturised marvelously, especially ‘Kannadi Chirakulla Kaatuvoove’ and ‘Aamodamaai’ songs. Vijay Ulagnath handled the camera while Sindhuraj scripted the movie.

Plot

Pranchiyettan aka Cherammal CE Francis (Mammootty) is a successful business man based at Thrissur. He is a devotee of Saint Francis Assisi and often indulges in fictious conversation with him. His ancestors were rice traders,
but he had grown from that small rice shop to expand his business to jewellery, real estate, shopping complexes and lot more. Evenwith his succesful and rich life, he is unhappy of his name and wants to become a celebrity. He is called Ari Pranchi by everybody, citing his ancestors business. He want to change his image from Ari Pranchi to something great and is ready to spend any amount of money for it. Pranchiyettan and the Saint deals with how Pranchi tries to get a good name and what changes that brings to his life.

Plus
Highlight of the movie is the Thrissur slang but it is used moderately (Unlike Rajamanikyam and Chattambinaadu). Enthoottu, Kidavu, Gadi all are used but easily blend with the movie screenplay. Mammootty's spectacles(:D) and moustache resembles of a typical Thrissur businessman. Excellent acting and mannerisms by Mammootty.

Innocent, Priyamani, Master Ganapathy, Khushbu, Siddique, Idavela babu, TG Ravi, Sreeraman, Balachandran Chullikkad, Jayaraj Warrier, Tiny Tom, Biju Menon are the lead characters and they performs well. Innocent is the pick of the actors whereas Jagathy Sreekumar could have been better.

Saw Jayaraj Warrier, the Thrissurkaran, in a movie after a long time. The new face, who portrayed the role of the Eyyappan, the servant of Mammooty was also good.

Director Ranjith has made the movie without being turning out to be a comedy of Thrissur slang but a refreshing and thought provoking one in all sense.

Several scenes and dialogues of the movie makes it one of the best social satire film of the recent times. The conversation between the Saint and Pranchiyettan is interesting. The tricks performed by Pranchiyettan to change his nickname are worth a good laugh and thought provoking. Regency Club speech, Felicitating of Gafoor Chekkutty, Padmasree nomination incidents brings laugh riots in the theatre.

The movie is a feel-good one with a good message in it, conveyed using many incidents and dialogues.

For those who liked the movies Lage Raho Munnabhai and 3 Idiots, Pranchiyettan is for you.

Minuses
The first part of the movie is a good satire and the last part has a good message. Altogether the movie is good to watch. In between, the scenes of Pandit Deenadayal (Jagathy Sreekumar) the tutor and the boy invites boredom and had to be worked out better. VS Achuthanandan question is an old dud. After the interval the story gets diverted and the boy becomes the central part of the story which was quite unacceptable to some of the spectators

Some comedy sequences doesn't click as expected. Pranchiyettans Regency club election speech may have been made better ( Like the Chatur speech from 3 Idiots)

The idea of dialogue exchange between Pranchi and the Saint Francis reminded me of the scenes between Munnabhai and Gandhiji in the movie Lage Raho Munnabhai.

Ranjith had earlier had told in an interview that movies of Rajkumar Hirani inspired him.

Cherammal Gold advertisement which resembles Atlas Gold is also an old trick, that too didnt click as expected.

Songs
The movie has only one song 'Kinaavile Jaalakangal' featuring Priyamani and is hummable.

Verdict
The movie is a good comedy entertainer from Ranjith and offers more to think than to laugh. One of the best movies in 2010.

Malayalm films have started to run back in track, atleast by seeing innovative Bollywood and Tamil movies.

Shikkar – A Complete Mohanlal Film

Af0ter the long wait Mohanlal’s ‘Shikkar’ hits the theatres of Kerala. The movie has been predicted to be a ‘life-jacket’ for Mohanlal and his enormous fans after he witnessed a bunch of Box Office disasters in 2010 like ‘Alexander the Great’, ‘Janakan’ and ‘Oru Naal Varum’. ‘Shikkar’ is a clean-family entertainer that can satisfy both family audience and Mohanlal fans. The second half of the movie is more interesting than the first half.

Story line

Balaraman, [Mohanlal] is a Lorry driver lives in a forest-bound village called Chittazha, where the main source of income for the people is Bamboo. He has a daughter Ganga [Ananya] who is studying for medical entrance. Balaraman and his daughter have been emotionally hunted by the death of Kaveri [Sneha]. One of Balaraman’s collegue Rawther [Thalaivasal Vijay] comes to Balaraman and reveals three of their superior officers have been brutally murdered. After some days Balaraman read the news of Rawther and his family’s murder news. Manu [Kailash] comes to the village and a relation develops between Manu and Ganga. Balaraman approves Manu and Ganga’s marriage. Balaraman reveals his 15 years earlier life as a Police officer and the incidents happened in Andhra related to the Naxalite operation he had been involved, through which he lost his wife Kaveri. The remaining story and the climax depict how Balaraman tackles the life threat.

The movie deals a revenge subject which carries a suspense element. The director Padmakumar successfully handled a tough subject. A good story has been scripted in an average way by Suresh Babu. Mohanlal is the real plus point of the film. His combination scenes with Ananya are really touching. The casting is real good; especially the Villain, Ananya, Samudirakani, Lakshmi Gopalswami and Jagathy did very well. Suraj Venjaramood is in his cliché role brings monotony. The movie has been very well shot by Manoj Pillai. The climax scenes were shot at the same location where the Tamil movie ‘Guna’ has been shot. The action sequences at the steep ranges are worth a watch. The songs were penned by late Gireesh Puthenchery and tunes are given by M. Jayachandran are good. The song ‘Pinne Ennodonnum’ is going to be a chart-buster of 2010.

Yakshiyum Njanum – A glorified visual crap

After fighting with almost the complete Mollywood stars and crew, Vinayan atlast released his magnum-opus fairy tale ‘Yakshiyum Njanum.’ But the movie is a beautifully pictured disappointment. The director is famous for his series of movies with variety of subjects and always careful to bring something new to the screen. ‘Yakshiyum Njanum,’ should be congratulated for its visual effects. ‘Yakshi’ overtook Vinayan’s earlier fairy tales Akashaganga and Vellinakshathram in the graphics and the special effects area.

Storyline

Aathira (Meghna) is the ghost who has to take her vengeance upon Home Minister Madhavan, (Spadikam George) for killing herself, her lover Ananthu and her father (Captain Raju). She meets Shyam (Gowtham) who is hired by the minister and his son for killing his daughter’s love interest. Shyam hides in an old Bunglow where he meets the fairy. They fall in love. Narayanji (Thilakan) is a famous astrologer and magician orders Madhavan to evacuate Shyam from the Bunglow. Narayanji with the help of Vatmiki (Maala Aravindan) tries to tie-up the evil spirit.

Negatives

The story is a pure cliché and that itself is the prime negative. The movie is made in a thriller mood and it comes under the genre of horror. For such a subject needs more twists and unexpected u-turns. Sadly this movie lacks both of it. The comedy track created with some sop-opera artists are real damp-squib and it hardly brings laughter.

Cast

The casting has its limitation, but Vinayan should be mostly congratulated here for overcoming his limitations of his cast. Thilakan, Spadikam George and Maala did very well. Among the new faces, the heroine Meghna is worth a watch. She did very well, justifies her cast and gave what is expected from her. Vinayan utilized her glamour to the maximum especially in song sequences. The hero Gautham gave an above average performance.

The music by Sajan Madhav is good especially the peppy number ‘Ponmane’ is going to be a hit. ‘Yakshiyum Njanum’ got maximum publicity from the controversies. But the movie is not good enough to make an impact. The movie is shot in Red camera, which is used in famous Hollywood movies like District 9, The Informant and Che. The new cameraman Navas is a real talent. The movie is visually rich but the subject ditched it.

The movie ‘Penn Pattanam’ directed by VM Vinu comes under the typical Malayalam movie genre. If someone re-phrases it, it can be described as a ‘family entertainer’. It contains everything an average family looks for. But the movie is par below average. The story is written by Renjith and screenplay by TA Razak. The film has no quality of those behind-screen experience hands. But the actors gave a remarkable performance, specially, Nedumudi Venu, Revathi, KPAC Lalitha, Swetha Menon, Augustin and Lal, to conceal other flaws of the movie.

Storyline

Girija,[Revathi] Santha,[KPAC Lalitha] Suhara [Swetha Menon] and Vishnupriya are four different women hails from the middle-class. They together operate a small sewage cleaning unit in Kozhikode town. They share the all their problems together. One day they get 30 lakhs, from a waste bin, in an abandoned bag. They decide to share it first but they at last deposits the money in the Unnithan’s [Nedumudi Venu] finance company. New issues arise after that. Antony [Lal] is the Sub Inspector, investigates a Hawala-murder and he finds out a huge amount of money is missing. The investigation then circles around the four women. Suhara is looking for financial help for her paralysed husband’s [Sadiq] operation. Girija asks Unnithan to give her money back, but he denies paying. Finally they together find a solution and they solve and finish the problems.

Performance

VM Vinu’s casting is very good. Actually, the casting helps him to come out with relatively OK movie which is having a script full of flaw. Among the stars Nedumudi Venu scores maximum points in a role of a Villainous yet comical natured character. Among the four women, Revathi and Swetha Menon did very well while KPAC Lalitha did justice to her role. The Neelathamara fame Kailas did relatively small character [Mani – the love interest of Vishnupriya] that has no importance in the script or story. Augustin did fine performance in the role of the murdered man’s father. Even if his role is limited with 3 – 4 scenes, he created an impact.

Negatives

The story is so simple; the only freshness it brings is that it has 4 women in the title roles. The scripting and direction both stand par below average. The story is perfect for enticing good comedy sequences, both the director and script writer failed to create comedy from a potential story. The only relief is Nedumudi Venu. The songs are highly avoidable. I don’t understand why the directors are inviting MG Sreekumar for making pale and shallow songs.

Positives

The movie has a totally new environment of Kozhikode. The director gave much care for giving the dialogues in the slang of Malabar for most of the characters. That creates freshness to the movie. Once again the performance of the lead cast is the biggest positive.

Anwar - The total Prithviraj Show

Amal Neerad - Prithviraj team’s Anwar is an average action movie that can satisfy Prithvi’s fans. The movie’s theme resembles to the storyline of Don Cheadle’s ‘Traitor’. As we all expected the movie has all Amal Neerad elements such as slow motion walk, SUVs, Beach-side visuals, Jackets, Unexpected u-turns etc. I like to call it a director’s movie than calling it a hero’s movie. Many scenes give us the golden memories of Big B. Prithviraj did well and he succeeded in making us all to think that he is the only person who can handle the character ‘Anwar’.

Storyline

The movie starts with the visuals of Coimbatore bomb blast and the arrest of Babu Sait [Lal]. Babu Sait is a suspect in the bomb blast case and a special team under Stalin Manimaran [Prakashraj] is working to found Babu Sait’s hands behind the blast. Anwar [Prithviraj] who is arrested for Hawala case joins Babu Sait’s team in jail and he became the most trusted and obedient right hand of Babu Sait in no time. Anwar plans and execute two more bomb blasts. Babu Sait introduces Anwar to Basheer bhai [Sampath]. Basheer bhai chose Anwar for another important yet dangerous project. But Anwar is haunted by his flashback and that is the suspense factor of the movie.

The scripting is the biggest negative of the film. But with direction, Amal Neerad tried to overcome the downbeats of the script. The movie is visualized in the same genre as he did his first movie Big B. Prithvi did well as Anwar. Another positive factor of the movie is music. Gopi Sundar created an enchanting backdrop and impressive soul for the movie with his superb background score. The songs of the movie are already hit chart busters. The action has been very well choreographed by Anal Aras. The editing delivers the required punch and the camera is brilliant especially the jail scenes, blast scenes and the action sequences. Prakashraj, Lal, Salim Kumar and Mamta did well. The movie is an action packed powerful entertainer. Considering Anwar with Big B, the dialogues are lacking the punch.

Malayalam film industry tried different things but nothing gives it the punch that the industry really expecting from the box-office. 2010 is not a good year for ‘Moallywood’ as it precipitated only 6 quality hits in 7 months, namely ‘PokkiriRaja’, ‘In Ghost House Inn’, ‘Kadha Thudarunnu’, ‘Happy Husbands’, ‘Mummy & Me’ and ‘Paapy Appacha’. But many good movies are yet to hit the cinema halls.

The trend is actually changing from one to another. The latest and the most effective among the trends is making of the sequels to the earlier block-busters. Lal (Sidhique-Lal) successfully made two sequels to the original ‘In Harihar Nagar’ in successive years and this is the new trend in the Mollywood. Yes, more than half a dozen movies are going to hit our screens in the next 12 months, which are sequels of old block-busters.

1. The King & the Commissioner
After 15 years, the hit making pair Shaji Kailas and Renji Paniker combines once again to combine two of their powerful characters, Thevallyparambil Joseph Alex and the Commissioner. Mammootty will do the famous IAS officer’s role and for a change, Prithviraj will wear the Police uniform. The movie will hit the screens in 2011 Vishu.

2. Mathilukalkkappuram
‘Mathilukalkkappuram’ is a sequel of Mathilukal-the movie of Adoor, based on Basheer’s novel. Nayanthara and Mammootty will be the leads in the debuting director Prasad’s movie. The movie is based on the imaginary relationship of Basheer and his unseen beloved Narayani. Mammootty’s company will produce this movie.

3. Sethurama Iyer – Chapter 5
Another record for Mammootty. The 5th part of the greatest ever hit of Malayalam film industry. The same team consisting of K. Madhu and SN Swamy is coming with yet another crime and investigation thriller.

4. Naaduvaazhigal – Prithviraj style
Like ‘Neelathamara’, the Mohanlal – Joshy team’s Naaduvazhigal is going to re-make with changes according to the age. Prithviraj is doing the role of Arjun. Shaji Kailas will take the shots while SN Swamy will write for the screen.

5. Perumal from the movie ‘August 1’
This one cannot be denoted as a sequel, but the character from the hit movie August 1, Perumal – the crime branch officer [Mammootty] has been adapted to a new interesting crime investigation story. Shaji Kailas will handle the job of Sibi Malayil in the new movie. The shooting is planned to commence in September.

6. Kasargode Kadher Bhai… Again
The all time comedy hit of ‘Mollywood’, Kasargode Kadherbhai is hitting back. Babu Antony and Manoj K. Jayan will do the central characters while all the important mimicry artists too will act in the movie with Jagadeesh, Suraj, Innocent, Asokan and Salim Kumar. The movie depicts the incidents after the prison break of Kaderbhai’s son Kasimbhai. Thulasidhas and Kaloor Dennis team will create the sequel.

7. ‘Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji’

The superhit movie of Thulasidhas – Rajan Kiriyath team’s Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji’ finding its sequel called ‘Malappuram Joji Mahanaya Haji’. The director said almost all the stars of the original will be casted in the sequel too.

8. Ninishtam Ennishtam 2
Alleppy Ashraf directs the second part of the Mohanlal movie Ninnishtam Ennishtam. Suresh Nair (Neelathamara) is the hero in the movie. The shooting of the is completed and this is releasing in the Onam season of 2010.

9. Mookilla Rajyathu
Without Thilakan, the director Thaha is planning a sequel for the comedy hit Mookkilla Rajyathu. Mukesh, Sidhique, Jagathy and Jagadeesh will be there in the lead roles with a bunch of new faces.

10. Kandahar

He want to change his image from Ari Pranchi to something great and is ready to spend any amount of money for it. The movie deals with how Pranchi tries to get a good name and what changes that bring to his life.

Story starts with CE Francis aka Pranchiyettan (Mammootty) talking to Saint Francis Assisi about his own life. It starts with a short flashback about the quarell between the Francis and Jose (Siddique) over their lady love Omana (Khushbu) when they in school. Francis had an affair with Omana but he had to surrender because of some malpractices done by Jose. Now Jose and Omana is married and are leading Doctors of the city.

The story progresses with several humourous incidents when Francis aka Ari Pranchi tries to get a good name for him. He contests in a local club election but gets defeated by Jose, he then arranges a felicitation for the Oscar award winner Gafoor Chekutty, but cant reach up to the stage, helps the needed but not gets any mention, tries to write a biography etc. Atlast he decides to grab a Padmasree award because that may help in changing his name Ari Pranchi to Padmasree Pranchi. He bribes 1.5crore for the award to get a nomination for Padmasree, but the corrupt politicians dump him.

Dejected, he settles to his house when a young pretty lady named 'Padmasree' (Priyamani) comes to invite him for an inauguration. Both become good friends and Pranchiyettan develops a love to her. He helps Padmasree to get hold of her Tharavadu from selling off, but coudnt tell her his love and she returns to Mumbai.

Now Pranchiyettan decides to help his friend Antony Mash's school. The problem is that the school fears that it will not get 100% result due to a single student called Poly (Master Ganapathy). Poly's parents are poor and couldnt help with his studies. Pranchiyettan adopts Poly and brings the boy to his home and arranges a special tutor Pandit Deenadayal (Jagathy Sreekumar) to teach him. Pandit Deenadayal discovers that the boy has immense talent but lacks concentration due to some personal problems.

He tries to teach him using modern techniques like Rubik's cube, etc, but the boy inturn mocks him by asking several questions, and performing some gimmicks that the teacher couldnt do.

Eventually the boy fails in the SSLC examination. Annoyed Pranchiyettan goes to the boys home to drop him back, but finds out several unknown facts about the boy there. The remaining part of the movie deals with how the boy's association changes Pranchiyettan's life.

The movie is one of the best movies released in 2010 and is sure to be a hit. Go ahead and watch it Read the Review

Plot/Storyline:
Balu(Jayaram) is an unemployed person, with the help of his friend, enters the cinema industry and became the makeup man of super heroine Anamika. A special relationship buds in between Balu and Anamika and the people around them do not like the relationship. In a stage, something happens and all around Anamika accuses Balu and she dismisses Balu as her Makeup man but she knows he is innocent.

Makeup Man will be a success for Jayaram considering the sub-standard films he has been associated with recently. There's also the much hyped cameos by Konchako Boban and Prithviraj playing themselves. And, the others in the ensemble cast like Jagathy Sreekumar and Salim Kumar doing their standard work will surely please the crowd. All in all, leave your brains at home and enjoy Makeup Man. All in all, ‘Makeup Man’ will not be a loser, as in comedy films Mollywood audience has made it a habit not to look for much logic. With a tremendous first half , and an average second half , the movie may succeed to bring back the capital spend on it. - Indiaglitz (Average)

Radhakrishnan Mangalathu, who hails from the world of TV sops, debuted in the movie screen, with an ultimate crap called ‘Sakudumbam Shyamala.’
I think Saji Surendran’s success in the film industry paved the way for new directors from TV sops. But this movie is a crushing disappointment. It has an average cast starting with Urvasi in the title role and Kunchacko Boban, Saikumar, Nedumudi Venu, Suraj Venjaramood, Bhama in the supporting roles.

The Story
Urvasi (Shyamala) is an illiterate and ambitious middle class wife of Saikumar and mother of Kunchacko Boban. Nedumudi Venu is the District Collector and he is the brother of Urvasi also her biggest enemy and the neighbour. Her biggest dream is Kunchako’s wedding. For that she is looking for an alliance only from the family who are settled in America.

Urvasi and Nedumudi, once a loving sister and brother later became enemies because of Urvasi’s affair with Saikumar. Saikumar is working as a UD clerk in Government office. Kunchacko is an editor of a news channel and Bhama is his love interest who is also working in the same channel as a reporter. Suraj Venjaramood is a typical Politician who is always looking for opportunities. An incident took Urvasi to the limelight of the media and society. This became a turning point and she gets the candidature in the election and she became the Revenue Minister of Kerala [Don’t curse me for the illogical situations]. Meanwhile Kunchacko marries Bhama and Urvasi opposes it. Some issues leads to the resignation of the Minister Urvasi and her situation worsens more. Then Bhama helps her from get rid of the situation.

The Verdict
Urvasi has already proven her talent to the South Indian cinema. What she did in this movie is absolute over-acting. The script and movie revolves around Urvasi, but she did no justice for the title role.

The uninspiring script and shallow direction is another major flop of the movie. People can’t tolerate this kind of treatment for more than 30 minutes. I think the main problem of mega-serial makers is to create a stuff that is flawless for 2 hours.

The only presentable item in the movie is Suraj Venjarammod. Nedumudi Venu and Saikumar justified their casting. Kunchacko Boban has nothing to do and Bhama is just for time-pass. MG Sreekumar arranged music for the movie and the songs are total disappointment.

If anyone comes to see a fresh treatment from a new director, you are totally mistaken, this one is the same old crap.
